Golden hour over Santorini, water this clear, and the windmills of Mykonos. If Greece has been sitting on your list, this is your sign. Save this one for your trip 📌

Santorini or Mykonos? Do both

The two islands are connected by ferry (fast boats take a few hours), so they're easy to combine:

  • Santorini (3–4 nights): caldera views, cliff-top villages, volcanic beaches and the famous sunsets
  • Mykonos (2–3 nights): whitewashed lanes, Little Venice, the windmills and beach clubs

Book ferries in advance in summer, as popular departures sell out.

Getting there

Both islands have airports (JTR for Santorini, JMK for Mykonos) with direct flights from many European cities in season. Otherwise, fly into Athens and continue by ferry or a short domestic flight.

Santorini sunset tips

  • Oia is the classic sunset spot. Arrive at least an hour early, or watch from Imerovigli or Firostefani for fewer crowds.
  • A catamaran cruise around the caldera is the best way to see the sunset from the water.

Where to stay

In Santorini, stay on the caldera edge (Oia, Imerovigli, Fira) for the views, or near the beaches (Kamari, Perissa) to save money. In Mykonos, Mykonos Town keeps you walking distance from everything.
